PHARMACIST
The pharmacy should be conceived basically as a knowledge
system, which renders a health service by concerning
itself with understanding drugs and their effects. The
main goal of the Pharmaceutical Education is to prepare
the Pharmacist to play a key role on the Health-Care
Team as the expert on drug products and their usage.
It is the profession responsible for the appropriate
use of medications, devices and services in order to
achieve optional therapeutic outcomes. Pharmaceutical
care is a necessary element of total health care. A
pharmacist is one who is educated and licensed to dispense
drugs and to provide drug information. Pharmacist is
the first source of assistance and advice on many common
ailment and health care matters.
During last decade pharma industry under went a complete
transformation due to liberalisation, globalisation,
emerging GATT era and then India becoming a member of
WTO coupled with major shift in Govt’s economic
policy. All these events led to severe competition,
demand of high quality standards of drugs and pharmaceuticals
introduction of new generation of drugs, emerging biotechnological
methods for the production of extremely efficacious
drugs. Increased understanding of etiology of diseases
due to advances in biology, immunology and microbiology
have lead to the development of ultra sensive rapid
diagnostic aids and tools. Along with these the availability
of sophicated biomedical equipments and instruments
for diagnosis and new technologies and devices for the
effective treatment of diseases. Such rapid advances
demands the greater responsibility of pharmacists working
in hospitals and community.
The pharmaceutical industries are already driven to
adopt new corporate strategies, renewed management culture
and systems, application of innovative technologies,
intellectual related activities like Contract Clinical
and developmental research, IPR, horizontal and vertical
technology transfer, contract/toll manufacturing and
marketing for their sustained growth and the very survival.
In the 21st century the greater knowledge based and
more sophisticated technology will present many more
challenges and opportunities than afforded now. The
pharmacy teachers, students and practitioners in 21st
century will much to learn and much more to do.
FUTURE FOR PHARMACY GRADUATES
The Pharmacy graduates, besides becoming entrepreneurs
for small, medium and large scale pharmaceutical industry
can join as Hospital Pharmacists, Retail and Community
pharmacists, teachers and regulatory officials. Ample
opportunities are in Pharmaceutical and health care
industry especially in Manufacturing, Quality Control,
R&D and marketing departments. The graduates can
also pursue their studies for post-graduate degrees
(M.Pharm, Ph.D.(Tech.) and Management and Pharmacy Administration)
in India and abroad. Immigration to Canada, USA. Australia,
New Zealand, etc. is also open for Pharmacists who wish
to work as a clinical Pharmacists. The Global College

Ragging
As per Section 3 of the Bill passed by the legislative
council on the 7 th April 1999 ( L.C.Bill No. IX of
1999), Ragging within or outside of any Educational
Institution in AP is Prohibited. Any candidate who directly
or indirectly commits, participates in , abets or propagates
ragging within or outside any Educational Institution
shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment
for a term which may extends to Two years and shall
also be liable to a fine which may extend to Rs. 10,000/-.
Any student so convicted shall be dismissed from the
Educational Institution and such student shall not be
admitted In any other Educational Institution for a
period of 5 years from the date of order of such dismissal.
The procedure followed shall be in accordance with the
provisions of the Bill.
Attendance
As prescribed by the university, every candidate
admitted to B.Pharm. Course is required to attend separately
not less than 75 % of the lectures & practicals
in every subject failing which their examination forms
will not be sent to the university.
College Discipline
The student while studying in the College, if found
indulging in anti-national activities, unlawful activities
and ragging in any form, contrary to the provisions
of Acts and Law enforced by Government, will be liable
to expelled from the college by the Principal of the
College. Failure of the candidate in making full and
correct statements in the application form and/ or suppression
any information which would lead to his disqualification
for admission. It is responsibility of every candidate
to submit proper documents. Any attempt to submit documents
which are not genuine will lead to cancellation of the
admission of the candidate , forfeiture of the fees,
deposit and expulsion of the candidate from the college
by the Principal or by his authorised official. Any
issue not dealt here-in above will be dealt with, when
arising , fully and finally by the Principal.
Copying
Copying in the examination is prohibited by
Law. The copying cases are referred to "Unfair
means committee" of the University which awards
suitable punishment. It is also mandatory to report
the copying case to the nearest police station.
